One of the fun things about a mystery series is when it’s something based on a true scenario. Think of binge-watching something that actually may have taken place. Here are 4 historical mystery series to check out: 

Jack the Ripper (1973)

Here’s a series that reopens the Jack the Ripper case. It goes into different suspects and conspiracies to try to find out what happened. 

The Doctor Blake Mysteries (2013-2017)

The doctor is a war veteran that takes over his dead father’s practice as well as becoming the police surgeon. Additionally, he gets caught up in solving crimes. 

The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1986-1988)

Both Holmes and Watson take time to solve mysteries ranging from the Silver Blaze to the Bruce-Partington Plans. 

The Alienist (2018-)

The series is based on the novel and the first season is set in 1896 where police commissioner Teddy Roosevelt investigates a case of boy prostitutes. The second season focuses on the kidnapping of the Spanish consul’s kidnapped daughter. A lot of interesting themes from income inequality, yellow journalism, and other elements come into the show.
