Among the strange phenomena that occurs on this planet, sudden disapperances fall into that category. Some of these things go unexplained for decades. Here are five people who’ve disappeared mysteriously:

Madeleine McCann

While on a family vacation in 2007, Madeleine disappeared in a hotel room literally 160 feet from her parents who were dining at a restaurant. The police wrongly pronounced her dead, which upset the family. She’s been missing since that year. 

Amelia Earhart

Known for her long-distance flights and world records, Earhart went missing in 1937 after she went over the pacific. Once she reached that point, she lost communication with navigator Fred Noonan. 

Jimmy Hoffa

This powerful union leader who was President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1958-1971 ended up disappearing after meeting two mob leaders in a Detroit restaurant in 1975.

Glenn Miller 

Miller was quite popular in the big band scene and agreed to aid the war effort by creating an Army band. Captain Miller was being flown to Paris via a single engine plane when it disappeared over the English channel. 

Natalee Holloway

While vacationing in Aruba for a graduation trip, she was set for the return trip back to the U.S. She was last seen leaving a bar with three local guys, Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe on May 30, 2005. She was never seen again.
