While online dating has been a modern thing for a while now, it still has some issues. Sometimes people can be impersonating others and coming up with fraud by stealing credit card information after getting to know their online mate. Here are 6 cases where it all goes wrong:

Aunt Catfishes Niece and Discovers Killing Plot Marissa Williams had been inviting random guys to her aunt’s house for intimate relations. Her aunt told her to stop doing it. She blocked her aunt but the aunt ended up creating a fake profile where she discovered her niece wanted to take her out. As a result, her aunt tricked her and got her arrested for solicitation of murder. Dead Wrong

Side of Instant Messenger Love Triangle It can be a bit tricky navigating instant messages, and this one certainly takes the cake.  Both Thomas Montgomery and Mary Shieler were both lying about who they were. Brian Barrett got involved and basically ruined the chemistry. Shieler found that Montgomery wasn’t who he said he was and began to “date” Barrett. Montgomery got jealous and murdered Barrett only to find out the truth about Shieler.

Rock Star Impersonator Turns to Murder David Rusell was a McDonald’s worker that impersonated the lead singer of Bring Me the Horizon on Facebook. He ended up tricking an American woman into visiting hiThm in Northampton. When she arrived, he blindfolded her and led her to the woods to slit her throat. Later, he was found by the police and given 17 1/2 years.

“Germany’s First Internet Killer” A guy known as Christian G, would flirt with a lot of women in computer chat rooms. He would meet a lot of them in-person, and actually killed two of them.

Philip Markoff – The Craigslist Killer  Here’s a guy that was not only a medical student but he had the looks to match the brains, so he was quite the ladies’ man. However, his squeaky clean academic image had its dark side. He liked meeting up with sex workers from Craigslist and killed them. This story actually became a Lifetime movie.

Young Teen Stabbed to Death After Meeting Young Man on KIK David Eisenhauer, a Virginia Tech student, met up with a 13-year-old girl and stabbed her to death. Apparently, Eisenhauer’s friend, Natalie Keepers, was an accessory to the crime and even helped him dispose of the body.
