“The Simpsons” is one of those trademark series that people know and love for years. Some of the main things that people enjoy are the specials. One, in particular, is the “Treehouse of Horror”, which constantly references different horror movies. Here are some of the top movie references:
Nightmare on Elm Street
“Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace” is a hilarious take-off from Nightmare on Elm Street. In costume (minus the claws), groundskeeper Willie sets to wreak havoc on the children of Springfield with a rake.
Night of the Living Dead
In the ‘Dial ‘Z’ for Zombies’ episode, they make reference to the living dead with Bart taking on black magic with his book report. He resurrects former residents of Springfield on top of his intended re-animation of their pet cat, Snowball.
The Shining
In “The Shinning”, the Simpson family has to take care of a big and empty hotel. With no TV and beer on hand, Homer loses it and goes ape with a trusty ax. He meets his end in a maze just like from the original movie reference.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula
‘Bart Simpson’s Dracula’ is a creative take on the original story as Mr. Burns is the bat that bites Bart. Then he goes to recruit Lisa afterward.
I Know What You Did Last Summer
“I Know What You Did-Diddily-Iddily-Did” is an interesting perspective on the movie. Flanders got ran over by Marge. He comes back to haunt the whole family and sends them a message, “I know what you did.”
